Advisers:
Welcome to 2018! We are excited to announce that the KCM contest is now accepting your student entries. A lot of things have changed, and we would like to encourage
everyone to review the attached document carefully regarding new categories and policies. I urge you to create an account on Smarter Entry and begin submitting as early as possible before the submissions close Feb. 8, 2018.
Schools can create contest accounts per publication or per adviser. We are using Smarter Entry as our vendor, which requires you to pay online for your entries first, and then you upload the files to go with the entries you have purchased.
The good news is that you can go back and make any necessary changes on your submissions until the deadline. You need to make sure single entries that consist of multiple pages are saved as one single PDF file. Each file you upload counts as ONE entry and is charged accordingly. See the attached documentation for full category listings and more detailed instructions, etc. Please note the “2018_Entry_Audits.doc” file lists every contest category and division available this year. Each school needs to complete this and email it back to me.
The website: https://client.smarterentry.com/kcm
The Cost: $5 per individual entry and $15 for the overall category. Schools who submit 10 or more entries will receive a 10 percent discount on conference registration.
Following this year’s contest, we will need everyone’s help to provide constructive feedback for next year’s contest. Advisers will be invited to the fall retreat, Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, to discuss any proposed changes. All proposed changes need to be submitted in writing by July 1, 2018, to an officer in KCM. These will be compiled over the summer and made available for further input by all members before the fall retreat. You can share your ideas with me at any point.
At the 2017 fall retreat, it was established that the fall retreat will take place on the Saturday after the end of the state fair on odd years and on the Friday after the state fair ends on even years.
2018: Friday, Sept. 21
2019: Saturday, Sept. 21
2020: Friday, Sept. 25
2021: Saturday, Sept. 25
2022: Friday, Sept. 23
2023: Saturday, Sept. 23
Again, I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we move through this first year online together.
Cheers!
Regina
