2015 Journalist of the Year recipients

The Collegiate Journalist of the Year award honors journalists who have contributed the most to their staffs and collegiate journalism in Kansas. The winner in each category receives a $250 cash prize and a plaque. The first runners-up receive $100 and a certificate; second runners-up receive $50 and a certificate. The following recipients were announced during the 2015 KCM Spring Conference.

Magazine
Journalist of the Year: Cami Bremyer, The Grizzly Magazine, Butler Community College

Yearbook
Journalist of the Year: Dalton Carver, Moundbuilder, Southwestern College

Two-Year Newspaper
Journalist of the Year: Matt Abell, The Campus Ledger, Johnson County Community College
First Runner-Up:  Joshua Harbor, GC3 Media, Garden City Community College
Second Runner-Up:  Maria Lara, Crusader, Seward County Community College

Four-Year Newspaper
Journalist of the Year: Shelby Reynolds, The Sunflower, Wichita State University
First Runner-Up: Matt Riedl, The Vantage, Newman University
Second Runner-Up: Taylor Shuck, The Baker Orange, Baker University

Kansas Collegiate Media (KCM) is the state-wide organization serving student media outlets at Kansas colleges and universities by providing support, learning opportunities and contests — all aimed at strengthening student media and supporting the important, democratic function of news reporting and information dissemination.
